New Mexico

Something a bit different.  In August 2003 I did some touring along the Turquoise Trail and atop Sandia Mountain in New Mexico.  These photos document some of the scenery I saw there.  I like the blend of dryness and trees that I saw there, as well as the arroyos and mesas that dominate the landscape like farms and prairies do in other parts of the country.  The route to the top of Sandia Mountain is twisty, slow, and fun to drive.  If you're a cyclist, it would be a great challenge, I would think.  One of the photos taken from atop that mountain, and one of my favorites here, is Photo 7.  While not as interesting visually as some of the others, it offers an amazing view of the city of Albuquerque from a vast distance above it, almost like seeing it from an airplane.  Open the large version, view it on the entire screen, and you can see the buildings of the city.  New Mexico is a very cool place.
